songs about roving, rambling and plain hard luck & photography from the other side …

when we put them in a cage the world can’t hear them sing

Cause blue birds don’t fly without their wings / And when we put them in a cage the world can’t hear them sing / So selfish when greed sets in / Possession, the king of sin (The Avett Brothers)

possession is the king of sin unless you give yourself over :) otherwise, it’s the king of pain… so there’s 3 song reference in my comment, you are a bad influence on me!

  4. ay, Fritsch, buddy – what a cool shot – they seem almost surreal and supernatural and three dimensional at once – the light is magic too!

(but I’m not sure I totally agree that we can’t hear them sing when they’re put in a cage – maybe these creatures of underwater darkness need to be displayed for us to really see their beauty and hear their song. at least they’re singing in this gem of a picture you’ve made, pal!)

    great work! keep ‚em coming!

    Hepp!

But they’re no longer living ! Let the beast run in its full savage beauty and risk being stung, or bottle it and contemplate a safer shadow of its previous existence ?

We are whip-sawed with the preservation of life or the „use“ of it for many purposes–exhibits, medical research and testing, fashion, food–that touch us on so many fronts and occasions. Most of the time, we tune it out, but when many people face that fact, they are dismayed and concerned. It is then that we speak up, but I would dare say that we don’t change a thing in how we deal with it or how we conform to this quandary. We just whisper our little protests in the darkness. Isn’t that true in so many other instances? It’s a big debate. The answers aren’t simple ones. The photo has a beautiful starkness. The play of light and dark is perfect for the subject. It’s all done artfully, Florian, and I think you achieved your purpose (as I interpret that). Regards….
