distant howling of a passing Southbound coal train

© Mathildenhöhe, Darmstadt 2012 by Fritsch

Three A.M. I’m awakened by a sweet summer rain / Distant howling of a passing Southbound coal train / Was I dreaming or was there someone just lying here beside me in this bed? / Am I hearing things or in the next room / Did a long forgotten music box just start playing? (Jim White)

Great composition and light ! Great shot !

The light is off, one can plug the dreams in the night, the light is on, one can shoot the scene to make a picture, a great picture thought for an optimal composition, a balance of the whites (and blacks and grays) offering rich textures, the textures of the daily lives, the light is on and you shot it, Florian, you shot it like an image of a dream plugged in the night, you shot it and you made it so beautifully. So beautifully.

  4. The detail. Sobriety. The pertinence of the frame.
It is really beautiful. A big fan of this style of picture very refined. Beautiful….

A simple, not simplistic composition, beautiful, just what we need to see, with this beautiful B&W and light. Open on something else ….

Ever so poetic, 3am and that couch by the window is your friend, if you can’t sleep because your mind is elsewhere, far, much farther away

„Stylistic“ mode, cleverly framed Florian… plus the „addictive joy of light“ (HA!) – Super Fierce… say that 5 times fast hahhhahhhaha!

  10. ay, Fritsch, a little different frame from your master hand – a beautiful indoor study of light and shape and texture, and it is off course extremely well done!

love the open duality of the picture; the fact that it is both inviting and distant at once, it is extremely present as well as impossibly distant.

great work, buddy! keep ‚em coming!

(oh, loved that runter Laufen-expressionist frame too! completely different, but inmistakably you!)

    Hepp!

Perfect geometrics and everything is neatly in place…except for the perceptions. It seems as if that is the way of it all too often.

Very compelling shot, friend. It’s got everything that makes a black and white an excellent photo. Keep them coming.

  18. Sometimes light has such a particular quality. It takes you. You’re not dreaming, you’re just appreciating it more extensively.
