about as lonesome as a poor boy gets

© Running & walking, France 2011 by Fritsch

It doesn’t get any lonelier than this / ‚cause I’m on this road alone / My hearbeat ringin‘ like a hollow drum / I’m about as lonesome as a poor boy gets / And there’s nothin‘ I can do / ‚cause it’s dark out here and I can’t find you / It doesn’t get any lonelier than this (Steve Earle)

I’ve known these little villages in the France of my young years, I’ve known these „corps de ferme“, I’ve known them in a great disorder where we, children, were playing simple games, the same games played by our parents and ancesters since centuries. I’ve known this disorder. And even its dirtyness. These little villages don’t exist anymore: accumulation of money and some peace brought some kind of order, another kind of disorder. Now, we can find some bins, and concrete stones to discipline and control the flows…
Your awesome picture, Florian, shows us the result of this long process. Everything looks superficially cleaner. Loneliness can be easily hidden. That’s what „we“ call modernism. That’s a terrifying new world…

Genau so mathematisch unvermeidlich?

It does seem like a lonely place–and lonely places can go on for a long time. Is she any more lonely as she walks away than he is in running after her? The pain we give and get is one of the lonliest places of all. Well seen, Florian.

Quite a visual treat Florian! All about „Space“… all sorts of space – „Manmade“ space, „Human Personal“ space… (HA!).

More paths with people in full stride. Where are they all going?

Interesting frame. I think you did spend some time composing this scene (right?), think most people had put the dot in the center, but you aimed for the house, and the lines really make it feel balanced.

  11. ay, Fritsch, yet another great shot, pal, yet another great composition where the humans and their/our (little) drama almost drown in time and space, drown in the forgotten times manifest in the old, historic buildings and the vastness of space manifest in the sky and the clouds above ….

    great work, buddy!

    keet it flowin‘!

    Hepp!

There is no break from the loneliness of the road, is there, but then do we want a break ?
