a ghost I became

© Morning in Berlin 2010 by Fritsch

The years blurred until I barely recognized my own face. The years I spent trying the same way and living in the same place. Started having dreams of the desert – so real they haunted me. Always sunny and never grey,  no noise, just wind and sage. Began to take vacation days and driving out as far as I could. People around me said I drew away – that a ghost I became . . . I’m headed farther and farther now, farther off and away. I’m headed farther and farther now, and farther off and away (Richmond Fontaine)

Naked trees in Berlin: do ghosts are naked creatures too? That’s why they should carry some white clothe… How much time did i spend in Europe as a child looking for the sky, the cold sky, the naked trees and felt alone like ghosts do? Simple and brilliant composition, Fritsch!

Love the simple, graphical quality and the contrast of the dark, heavy straight lines against the fragile branches of the tree. Superb.

  11. The dark framing the trees really draws one into the frame. Each individual branch comes through so well. Superb!
