songs about roving, rambling and plain hard luck & photography from the other side …

pictures from life’s other side

In the world’s mighty gallery of pictures / There’re scenes that are painted from life / Scenes of youth and of beauty / Scenes of hardship and strife / Scenes of wealth and of plenty / Old age and the blushing young bride / Hang on the wall – but the saddest of all / Is a picture from life’s other side (Woody Guthrie)

all this lonely people, where do they all come from? – (John Lennon)

good days and ways wünsche ich dir von Herzen

  3. ay, Fritsch, movie houses are places of wonder and magic, and for many, many years they were my favorite places. arthouses, film societies, and good old big screen movie houses which seated hundreds, not to say thousand people hungry for adventure and escape ….

(the grandest cinema up here, Forum Kino, had 1140 seats, and was a beautiful art deco building from the thirties …. they closed down seven or eight years ago, and that was the saddest show ever played at Forum …..)

sometimes we look at the beautiful pictures, and sometimes at pictures from life’s other side, and we never look away, Fritsch, we never look away….

    great shot, pal!

    Hepp!

„The saddest of all / Is a picture from life’s other side“… Life’s other side, the world’s other side, all these other sides, Florian, you are right, we need to show them cause depending of our eyes we can see the beauty of this other side that many want to hide. Living in Brazil, that’s an every day fight, but we know it’s also an every day fight against the invisible in other countries and cities like Berlin or Paris.
Intimes Kino, I guess is or was a porn theatre. The true show is inside it and not on the screen, and that’s a lot of misery, a lot of beauty too, despite of our prejudices. Thanks, my friend, for remembering us this point of view.

If I just take a peek inside to see the patrons, will that make me just as much of a voyeur as they are?

A facade of really original store as we see little I guess …
    Great frame my frame !

What is on the other side, as long as we’re here we will never know. But we can imagine, and imagination, can be photographed better than passing. Let’s not hope for the other side yet, but many more pictures from this one !
