like a tree by the river I’m holding on

© Fields, Velten 2011 by Fritsch

I was born in these woods, and these hills are my home / And the fields will be ready when the spring time comes / But I’m just here for a little while / And I’m just here for a little while / Like a tree by the river I’m holding on / But everything gets gone / But everything gets gone (William Elliott Whitmore)

My first though was children of the corn. But the corn was already eaten and the children all grown up and moved out..
I like the dramatic sky, perhaps the photo would be even better without the tree. The fields together with the sky would still make a strong image I think.

    „Happily
    happiness doesn’t know justice
    It comes when it wants
    and it wants unjustly

Time for you to withdraw into the rustle
    of black silk attire
rather than to dress up in smiles
    But is it your fault
that like rain it caught you on the road by surprise
that you didn’t have time to cover your silver head

And now you stand like a lonely tree
open to all the winds and birds

And now you shine like a lake
and whether you want to or not
    you reflect the sky“

I can’t say better than this poem by Anna Kamienska. The tree, the dramatic sky, these main elements are there to make me wonder about life, about my position in the world.
A great picture, Florian, a philosophical picture.

Excellent BW again, love the way you contrast it to obtain deep blacks. Nice, nice!!!
    Have a nice day.

  5. This is beautiful. I love the contrast, and the b&w treatment is just perfect.

The lonely tree is always striking. This one stands despite the taming of the land by farming and the denuding of the land by the harvesters. It stands alone in spite of the weather–hot or cold, calm or stormy. After all it is home. Aren’t we very much the same? Thanks, Fritsch.

Sky, light, compo and this tree up in the fields… a soulful landscape in beautiful contrasts (as usual), love it !
