songs about roving, rambling and plain hard luck & photography from the other side …

ain’t goin‘ to heaven nohow, crowd up there’s too slow

Thick bass notes from a moon faced drum / Saxophones moan, banjo strings hum / High thin notes from the cornet’s throat / Trombone snorting, bass horn snorting / Short tan notes from the piano / And the short tan notes from the piano (Conny Bauer, poem by Frank Marshall Davies)

Grandiose Verschmelzung von Körper und Instrument.
Eine LP von Dexter Gordon nennt sich: The man with the horn. Hier müsste es heißen: The man is the horn. Herrlich!
Und in besonders intensiven, selbstvergessenen Momenten des Spiels soll es ja vorkommen, dass Musiker und Instrument eine untrennbare Einheit bilden.

Fein, sehr fein, Florian. Das, was uns aus dem Dunklen erreicht, in ein Spannungsfeld aus Quadern gestellt, ist rund. Das Leben besteht eben so gut wie nie aus rechten Winkeln.

The mouth of the trombone, the mouth singing the blues, any kind of blues, here made of irony and joy and rage! A great point of view, my friend, for this music accompanying us all along our road.

The man becomes the music. A very poetic shot.

Love this low-key BW, I can almost hear the music
