songs about roving, rambling and plain hard luck & photography from the other side …

all them things that seemed so important vanished right into the air

But I remember us riding in my brother’s car / Her body tan and wet down at the reservoir / At night on them banks I’d lie awake / And pull her close just to feel each breath she’d take / Now those memories come back to haunt me they haunt me like a curse / Is a dream a lie if it don’t come true or is it something worse / That sends me down to the river though I know the river is dry  / That sends me down to the river tonight (Bruce Springsteen)

well our photographic passions will never become a curse will they baby? and it even looks like we are on the same road and have a picture of the same bridge…. and we cross it together xoxoxoxox

Vielen Dank, Ulli.

Viele Grüße & weiterhin sichere Straßen, Fritsch.

  4. ay, Fritsch, The Bridge, it’s less than a week since I crossed it last – going south, man, always going south!

    happy travels!

    Hepp!

That length of bridge can make us feel we might really go elsewhere.
    Your picture is great!

Vielen Dank, mein Freund.

Viele Grüße & weiterhin sichere Straßen, Fritsch.

I have a photo so much like this. It was taken in the ’60’s when I was going into San Francisco across the Golden Gate. There was the feeling that there was an open door to go through and another closing behind me. I’m not sure if anything really changed or not.
Still, it was a mystical feeling and a bit frightening to a midwestern boy. (Sorry for rambling.) Again, you have merged an iconic photo with a haunting song. What synergy! Nice work!

I guess the feeling of an open door to go through & another closing behind is the feel each time I cross a bridge somewhere, Phil. And it’s always these haunting songs to accompany me when on the roads. Thanks, Phil … hope it feels good to recall these memories when looking at this frame, because these memeories are so damn precious.

All the best & safe travels, Fritsch.
