songs about roving, rambling and plain hard luck & photography from the other side …

never saw my hometown until I stayed away too long

One & a half year of waiting. The old love left just to return one day. While the night was dark. While the night was cold. And that big ol‘ moon was shining like a polished dime …

Everything was set for a night full of pleasures & welcome with all kinds of new friends …

Luckily the old friends still around for cigarettes & drinks, telling past & future stories …

All amazed & bathed in that beautiful light you keep spreading & the way you changed …

Ready to fall in love. Ready to roam the streets. Ready to light up these city nights …

Ready to talk things over ‚cause you’ve been away too long but this night now is ours …

& it will be a night to remember filled with smiles & tunes, filled with memories & future …

Because you & I were in love with each other & with the city & it’s time to start anew …

I never saw the morning ‚til I stayed up all night / I never saw the sunshine ‚til you turned out the light / I never saw my hometown until I stayed away too long / I never heard the melody until I needed the song (Tom Waits)

Folks, after more than a year of despair the C/O Berlin finally welcomed us in its new quarter. And though I already knew what I missed the last year it sometimes feels like you are realizing what you got until it’s real, real gone. Luckily times have changed …

I never heard the melody until I needed the song…. sounds like a perfect description of the insanity i’m sinking into from too many polyunsaturated fats in my diet…. or something else, we don’t know yet :) nice picture story, great for our photographic loooooovin’s

And it sounds like a perfect descripition of my daily insanity & wanderings, dear. But the photographic lovving remains. And that’s all that counts.

All the best & safe travels, Fritsch.

Vielen Dank, Uwe!

Viele Grüße & weiterhin sichere Straßen, Fritsch.

I’m not sure to understand well what all that means. Was it a Vernissage of yours? Did you feel the same as Tom Waits in this song?

Anyway i like the song and the vernissage is successful!

    • Fritsch sagt:

It was the opening of a gallery I’ve been missing the last & a half year. And this occurs to me like the return of long gone love. Unforntunately not my vernissage & maybe that’s why I always feel like a Tom Waits song.

All the best & safe travels, Fritsch.

good days and ways for you
    Ulli

For one month, every two years, Paris truly becomes the world capital of photography — and this is that magic time, right now! When I was living in Paris, this event was a must for me. Try to go there, Florian. Paris is close to Berlin!

    • Fritsch sagt:

Paris is definitely on the wishlist. But it would be even greater to meet you in Paris & get caught in that magical time all together, my friend.

All the best & safe travels, Fritsch.

Oh I heard about the C/O Berlin move ! When I saw the Amerika Haus picture it clicked in my mind. So cool they have a new space now and love the sense of movement in those pictures, man I need to go back to Berlin…

    • Fritsch sagt:

Jerome, it’s definitely time for you to show up here. The city is awaiting you & so do I. And this place is the place to be … great inspiriation & finally lots of photo opportunities.

All the best & safe travels, Fritsch.

I am taking this series and your poetic narrative in a strictly emotional way. There isn’t much I can say really except that it is beautiful and so full of feelings that I can identify with. Your words made me ache with hope that, yes, you did find that future and night filled with love and adventure…but mostly that what was lost was reclaimed because life and love lost leave nothing but darkness. Beautiful story. Exciting exhibition. Great photos.
This is a marvelous post. Thank you!

    • Fritsch sagt:

Thanks, Phil. And for me it was a strictly emotional evening to see waht left darkness finally brought back the light. The light of a magic night that will shine thorugh times ahead. thank you, my friend.

All the best & safe travels, Fritsch.
