songs about roving, rambling and plain hard luck & photography from the other side …

been fighting second gear, for fifteen miles or so

Pain in the outside lane, I’m tired of answering to myself / Heart like a rebuilt part, I don’t know how much it’s got left / How much it’s got left / I’ve grown tired of traveling alone / Tired of traveling alone / I’ve grown tired of traveling alone / Won’t you ride with me, won’t you ride (Jason Isbell)

Petrol stations make us think of travel: they are situated along the highways and show successive architectures that look like kinds of airports.

    Smart, isolated, hot summertime.

„Tired of travelling alone“, I know what you mean, my friend. I’ve known it many times. Even when I was accompanied… Maybe this loneliness helps us to see on these landscapes something that other people can’t see. Like this picture and its perfect composition.
I remember my visits to Berlin, I remember this kind of free-way. The first time I was there, Berlin was yet an island, and the free-way was not so free…
Shall I go back to Berlin some day, Florian, shall I go back? I don’t know but I like to imagine we can meet and talk all night long about these landscapes, the roads, the trips. Tomorrow here in Vitória begins a German film festival, tomorrow I’ll be able to share a little bit more with you. If the movies pass through Berlin.

The two holes in the middle seem to try to tell us something in this no man’s land, as if this way (road) did not go to anywhere anymore. Great scene, my friend !

I love the atmosphere always a little strange that emerges from these places. Your photo does not exempt from this rule my friend !

This could be a scene from a disaster movie, love it.

And that second gear is as much in your soul as it is in that car, that pulls you and pushes you onward just as much as that car does. Refuel stations are important for the bluesman’s soul

A soulful melding of photograph and music. It’s an intoxicating mix. There are a lot of people traveling alone and wondering why they have to do both at the same time. It’s a pity that „we“ just keep traveling along and casting a gaze at all the other lonely travelers. We just drive on and wonder…and drive on and wonder some more. Nice work, Florian.

I like how this frame somehow feels old and timeless at the same time
