songs about roving, rambling and plain hard luck & photography from the other side …

liberties that we can’t do without seem to disappear like ghosts

I’ve been stuck here in this town, if you could call it that, a year or two / I never do what I’m supposed to do / I don’t even need a name anymore / When no one calls it out, it kinda vanishes away / No one gives a damn about the things I give a damn about / The liberties that we can’t do without seem to disappear like ghosts in the air / When we don’t even care, it truly vanishes away (Jason Isbell)

The picture is great, „open“; i mean the watcher can imgine what he can or want to. Night impresses that way.

Gas stations at night in Europe seem habited by ghosts and I had forgotten this detail… But that’s not exactly the point. What I see is some fascination that we share, Florian, for these kind of places, especially at night, where we unlikely meet other people. Which means that when it occurs, it becomes quite strange and intense: what can happen suddenly?
The composition and the light are perfect, they contribute to let everything possible. Let’s wait one second or two and a lost woman, for instance, will appear!
One more great stop on that trip with you, my friend, on this long and winding road called life.
(I have to confess I’m not sure I understood the title, my English being a bit weak).

Thx.

  9. ay, Fritsch, buddy, what a great shot – you’ve captured complete absence and complete presence all at once at an empty gas station somewhere in the German night. technically the picture is perfect, of course, and into that lonesome, radiant night we ride!

    keep ‚em coming, pal!

    Hepp!

Last step, what better liberty than that of the open road, waiting, beckoning.
