songs about roving, rambling and plain hard luck & photography from the other side …

take these chains from my heart and set me free

Give my heart just a word of sympathy / Be as fair to my heart as you can be / Then if you no longer care for the love that’s beating there / Take these chains from my heart and set me free / Take these chains from my heart and set me free (Ray Charles)

Grandiose!

Nothing like a boat for providing a feeling of freedom. It may be a little boat, we just have to close the eyes to feel better the spume and the wind. Just one minute sailing and we are already on the other end of the Earth. With images and musics in mind.
Cause there is also the wake drawn by the craft as it is clearly shown here, Florian, the wake carrying our memories and older photographs, something trying to tell us we have already been living in this world in the past.
That’s what I’ll do, next Thursday, entering a ship of our modern times, certain that I’ll think about your inspiring pictures, my friend.

Dein Foto erinnert mich an meine Rundfahrten.

  4. ay, Fritsch, buddy, there’s nothing like boats to set us free – the ocean is even better than the highway sometimes. it’s just to cast off, and brace oneself for whatever lies ahead, and if one should need comfort there’s always an old song to keep weary, seafaring hobos happy!

one of my grand uncles – a washed up seaman – used to say that he „wasn’t a wreck yet. he was just a sinking ship“! nobody took his chains and set him free, I guess, but I’ll bet he would’ve loved this picture, buddy!

    keep it up, pal!

    Hepp!

What a play with the elements of ship, sea, and sky. I had to study the photo before I could see the „real“ things because the many rectangular shapes would capture me first every time. This cruise must have been sparsely attended…but who needs a crowd when they are sailing away to a destination that they choose. Lonely trips can make for great arrivals. I hope yours was.
