songs about roving, rambling and plain hard luck & photography from the other side …

the waves & the wind & night is black

Tonight, we’re the sea and the rhythm there / The waves and the wind and night is black / Tonight we’re the scent of your long black hair / Spread out like your breath across my back / Your hands they move like waves over me / Beneath the moon, tonight, we’re the sea (Iron & Wine)

    herzlichst Ulli

Minimalist and full of meanings, this is a tremendously impacting picture to me, I can’t say exactly why it moves me so strongly, I’ve just some memories emerging to my conscious, a walk very soon in the morning when I was alone on a Cuban beach – and I made a similar shot, a Kodak film one, that is now lost somewhere in the attics of the mother of my son. Well I can’t tell you more for now.
And this is the kind of composition I love at first sight, with the „object“ in the centre, its shadow. And around the supposed void, which in fact is nothing but void. Yin and yang. This picture is a true gem of yours, Florian.
The Samuel Beam (his true name is much better than the pseudonym, I guess) song fits perfectly, once more. But we all know here that you care about the genuine association between image and music.

Minimalism with it’s own poetry. Mostly buried, covered, forgotten except for that one branch reaching out and signifying that „I’m here and I’m not done yet.“ We need some tenacity in life…and even when the odds seem to be so overwhelming. It’s hard work sometimes, though. I gain some small strength from this photo. I’ll hide away for when I need it most.

hello sweetheart, i need a warm dry beach… my RV flooded, the carpet has been ripped up, the dog is whining because it’s gone, the whole place smells like mould… i want to run on the beach instead… this is icky…. your comment about wild horses made me smile, since those horses had cardigans on :)

The sand buries everything, but some will always find a sunny day to burst through again
