songs about roving, rambling and plain hard luck & photography from the other side …

the last light I see before the dark finally gets a hold of me

© Mathildenhöhe, Darmstadt, 2013, Florian Fritsch

Hold on, Magnolia, to that great highway moon / No one has to be that strong / But if you’re stubborn like me / I know what you’re trying to be / Hold on, Magnolia, I hear that station bell ring / You might be holding the last light I see / Before the dark finally gets a hold of me / Hold on, Magnolia, I know what a true friend you’ve been / In my life I have had my doubts / But tonight I think I’ve worked it out with all of them / Hold on, Magnolia, to the thunder and the rain / To the lightning that has just signed my name to the bottom line / Hold on, Magnolia, I hear that lonesome whistle whine / Hold on, Magnolia, I think it’s almost time (Songs: Ohia)

  2. ay, Fritsch, a beautiful tribute to a beautiful and troubled soul….. Jason’s seen his last light, and moved on. we are lucky to have his music.

    good day, good way
    herzlichst Frau Blau

hold on, my dear, until you can’t hold on anymore, then hold on some more… we need you and your love spread across the world, in pictures, in comments, in song… so hold on

A plaintive song full of the thoughts of a tortured soul who sees some hope while knowing an end is relentlessly approaching. Songs like this are hard to hear. Your photo is just as melancholy. Both the lamp and the picture are ghosts; neither is firmly showing itself. There are times in life when we perceive more than we merely see, and those perceptions hold the bigger and heavier reality. We can hold on, but we know unequivocally that the end is near. Perhaps this was true for Jason; perhaps it is true for most of us. Nice „weaving“, Florian. Your tapestries are always heavy with meaning.

A sad and beautiful epitaph, you make it look so serene
