another warm day in a city of cold hearts

© Unknown Pleasures, Berlin, 2013, Florian Fritsch

Well, it’s another warm day / In a city of cold hearts / They all just play the part / Of who they are / And I’m here on my own / I’d rather be alone / Than try to be someone that I’m not / And you seem like someone who could appreciate the fact / That I’m no ordinary man (Eels)

It looks like these old halls, full of stories of all kinds … with their matchless charms !
    Love it

Always so impressed by your pairing of words with images. Well done!

Unknown pleasures in Babylon, one of these modern Babylons, scattered on our planet. For „Unknown Pleasures“, the composition fits perfectly, a frustrating frame enhancing mainly these words, so that nothing of the façade can tell us more about these unknown pleasures. We are condemned to imagine almost everything. And imagining unknown pleasures, if really unknown, is nothing easy!

One detail: the blinds behind the upper windows look like they are part of this game.

Through this picture, Florian, I have to imagine the lonely guy – you or me, the not so ordinary man of the song – lost in the city, looking hopefully at the signs and understanding that some places around are definetely closed to him. But a shut picture opening our minds, my friend.

i love your title. And what makes a day warmer for one with a cold heart ? Or perhaps, what makes a heart colder on such a warm day ?
Are those two supposed to constantly pulse in opposite phase, what happens to a warm heart on a warm day ?
Questions, questions…let’s just look at some B&W

tolle kompositionen – bild ebenso wie song.

    liebe grüße, soso

  8. ay, Fritsch, buddy – Babylon Berlin, decadence and decay and half naked showgirls twisting the night away to some noisy r’n’b from a past long forgotten for most people, except for the few who transcend the mundane and live for those yet unknown pleasures and their palaces of yesterday …

    great shot, man!

(and on a side note – I’d never heard the song before, so that was an unknown pleasure for me, buddy!)

    keep it up!

    Hepp!

Odd–to advertise the display of „unknown pleasures.“ They won’t be unknown for long. It smacks of the tawdry, but it just may be a secret–one that seems more precious for the telling of it.

Sometimes the told secrets are only telling of a deeper sweetness.

The mix of your photo, the song, and all the mind-trips they bring are pure art.

I love those old halls and signboards. Eels‘ music fits very well – sixties feeling.
