like a river that’s don’t know where it’s flowing

© Liberty Belle, Berlin, 2013, Fritsch

I met her in a Kingstown bar / We fell in love I knew it had to end / We took what we had and we ripped it apart / Now here I am down in Kingstown again / Everybody’s got a hungry heart / Everybody’s got a hungry heart / Lay down your money and you play your part / Everybody’s got a hungry heart (Bruce Springsteen)

Same player shoots again, and that’s you, Florian, who’s shooting! Here from a surprising point of view. May be the view had little boys (or girls), who had to wait for growing a little bit more to be able to play. Something you’ve been experiencing as a child?

This machine, Liberty Belle, the music of Springsteen, some quintessential pieces of a dream of America, a kind of dreams that little boys (or girls) experienced too, in the past. Now, I’m not so sure… Just to say there is a powerful load of nostalgy to me here.

Same player shoots again. And is a winner!

(HA!) Based on your verses I know what you’re deriving at Florian… this one’s a tearjerker, but there’s also light to balance the doom and gloom… go grab some strong coffee instead of bar outlet avenues… hahhhahhhaha.

  7. ay, Fritsch, buddy, another great shot from your magic camera! a light in the dark in more ways than one, and a key to a beautiful past!

(oh, I love „Hungry Heart“ too, btw, The Boss at his best – a happy melody with a melancholic undercurrent! just like your pic! great pairing!)

    keep it burning, buddy!

    Hepp!

Mmm…the song is decidedly sad in spite of the cheery, rock background. As one country song says „Don’t ask me how I know“.

The photo itself brings back memories of the local drug store back in the late 50’s and mid-sixties that I frequented. Two pinball machines graced the front of the store. They were full of cigarette burns and rings from soda bottles on the glass. We craved those nickel games and would feed the machines, listen the the bells ring, watch the lights flicker and flash–and it was about as good as it could get for a small-town kid.

I think I’d like to go back, thanks to you, Florian. I know I can’t, but it doesn’t stop me from wanting that. That’s my hungry heart at the moment. Everybody has one. Nice work, my friend.
