the wound that never heals

© Westjütland, Denmark 2012 by Fritsch

Long about an hour before sunrise she drags his body down to the edge of the swollen river wrapped in a red velvet curtain stolen from the movie theater where she works. Quiet as a whisper, under the stanchions of a washed-out bridge she cuts him loose…and watches as the flood waters spin him around once, then carry him away. (Jim White)

Außer Betrieb. Out uf use. Hors service.

Don’t know what this structure or machine is. Don’t know and it doesn’t matter. Or does matter, because brings to the picture its load of uncertainty. We are in the middle of low lands, a kind of abandoned field and we don’t know what to think and do. The music, the lyrics may help a little bit. There is an ambiant, the ambiant you captured, Florian, and this ambiant, its mystery, the feeling of abandon tell us one story of our world, one more story of despair. And though it’s a sad story, there is the transcending power of your composition, making it beautiful. Thanks to you, my friend.

Dug up out of the ground where they stood. Ruined from their purpose of giving help. Ignominiously thrown into a heap, declared useless and unwanted, and left to die in some forgotten place. All too often it happens with people–and I don’t need to elaborate on that. „Baby, why don’t you cry?“–indeed.

Such an effective mix of image and lyrics. Nice work, Florian.

    Cut!

    A wound ? It is a gash !
But everything heals, albeit with a trace
