melancholic overtones, they echo off the floor and walls

© Botanischer Garten, Berlin 2012 by Fritsch

Don’t sing that old sad hymn no more / It resonates inside my soul / It haunts me in my waking dream / I cannot bear to hear it / Don’t play those violins no more / Their melancholic overtones / They echo off the floor and walls / I cannot bear to hear them (Sun Kil Moon)

Nice work: you’ve managed to bring life and interest to a seemingly insignificant space. Good arrangement in the comp, especially like the shades and textures play into the entire scene.

    Klasse Bild!

Each one its own choreography, same destiny. Nearly an abstract, love this.

Another mass of chairs, a daily scene like a modern plastic still life, a great sense of the composition, Florian, a great sense of the play with lights and shadows. And beyond the formal qualities of this picture, the feeling, the subtle feeling of a past season, lost forever, a past time, the nostalgy for lost moments, the nostalgy for a time where crowds could have been friendly, the illusion of happiness lost, a time that never existed but that one would have liked, something that one wouldn’t say. But the photograph tells it ;-)

Silent spectators, stacked against the window. What are they looking at ? Perhaps the show is not inside but outside, us looking in on our own lives

are they the chairs piled up, and lonely, now that the church is empty, the song still plays, but nobody to sing, nobody to sing… you must never go, and i must never go, for where two or more are gathered, God is with us, taking pictures of us for His book of life :)

Another photo story in the making and all we need is a bit of imagination. I like your concept and matching of those sad lyrics with it. Fritsch, you not only have an eye for finding those images of the lonely and displaced, but you also play with our minds and emotions so well. We have all been on the outside looking in and wishing for what we had or for moving on to that brighter place. It’s a universal situation and you make it work for you so very well.
