songs about roving, rambling and plain hard luck & photography from the other side …

myself as alone & sad as a leaf to the wind

© Benches, Büsum 2011 by Fritsch

How far I am from the land where I was born / Intense nostalgia invades my thoughts / And when I see myself as alone and sad as a leaf to the wind / I want to cry, I want to die of grief / Oh land of the sun! I sigh to see you now / How far I am now, I live without light, without love (Harry Dean Stanton)

This photo certainly fits the lyrics and the video–or is it the other way around? It’s full of it’s own atmosphere.

There is a loneliness that can be felt even when you are with someone else or even in the middle of a crowd. There are times that make even the fun-loving people in the distance seem like they are a world away. And then there’s the loneliness when no one is around at all. We all go to that lonely place once in a while.

    I like the photo, Fritsch.

Those people seem to sit in front of a altar, the altar of sun as a divinity.
About loneliness: i feel much less lonely in a crowd than with a litlle number people i can’t communicate well with.

PS Paris Texas, my favorite film: i watched that film i can’t say how many times.

    Good association.

Danke.

Oh Fritsch! It can’t be that bad! You’re at the beach – get on your swimming trunks and go for a swim – then you’ll cheer up!

  7. Un régal pour les yeux… Un monochrome MAGNIFIQUE !

  8. I see no sadness in this photograph, just the divide between people who do and people who observe. You’ve captured them beautifully, adding drama to the rift between doers en onlookers with your usual stark contrasts.

The fascination of light, the light coming from the sky, the light reflected by the sea… People can stay hours sitting there and looking at it, and I’m one of them. In light move our thoughts.
And the vignetting effect adds to this contemplation, to this meditation.
And I feel like I’m just another leaf to the wind, Florian. And I accept it.
